A Hammonton man was killed after crashing into the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza along the Atlantic City Expressway in Hamilton Township, August 21st. According to New Jersey State Police, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the driver lost control of his westbound Ford SUV and struck a toll booth.
The vehicle became engulfed in flames, causing the driver to sustain fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Westbound lanes were diverted to express lanes as crews worked to clear the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
When a single-vehicle crash results in tragedy, factors other than driver error are often involved. Defective auto parts, electrical failures, or unsafe road conditions can contribute to these types of accidents. While not every single-vehicle crash involves a defective product, issues such as faulty brakes, steering malfunctions, transmission failures, or electrical fires have all been linked to preventable accidents in the past.
Families who lose loved ones in single-vehicle crashes may benefit from experienced legal guidance to explore whether negligence, mechanical defects, design flaws, or other hazards contributed.
