Egg Harbor Man Dies in Memorial Day Motorcycle Crash

Motorcycle Crash

On Monday, an Egg Harbor Township motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Hamilton Township. Police officials say a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound on Weymouth Road made a lefthand turn into the path of the oncoming 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle near the Winding River Campground.

The motorcycle rider suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Chevy driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was diverted for several hours while police investigated the incident.

Members of the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office also assisted.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call (609) 625-2211.

Motorists making lefthand turns pose significant dangers to motorcycle riders, and collisions with left-turning vehicles are one of the most common motorcycle accidents. And one of the deadliest.

Motorists who turn left into the path of an oncoming motorcycle leave the biker little or no time to react, usually resulting in severe, and often fatal, collisions. Left-turn crashes with motorcycles are also common due to their smaller size and visibility – other drivers often fail to notice a motorcycle or misjudge its distance or speed. If you were injured or lost a loved one in a motorcycle crash, the compassionate and experienced motorcycle accident lawyers at D’Amato Law Firm can help.
